After graduating with my Master’s in Psych Counseling, I tried to launch my business that I was calling “On Being Whole”. A person contacted me and asked for my help – he had been in a terrible car accident and was now bedridden and looking at many years of rehab. He had lost his job. He had gained considerable weight and yet was still comforting himself with junk food, and I got that. He was extremely depressed and his doctor wanted to put him on anti-depressants, but he didn’t want to take them. Could I help him?
Ugh. I didn’t know what to do. This guy clearly had a right to be depressed. I was very unsettled.
I went back to studying and to gaining more life experience and experience working with many people. This was in 2006. I was seeking answers to the following questions. What is wholeness? What is health? How do we really heal? I studied many perspectives, took classes and read books, and got certified as a Holistic Health Coach, all in search of understanding physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of healing and the mind/body connection. My greatest teachers have been my relationships, my children and other family members, my clients, and the good and bad things that have happened to me, especially working with individuals, couples and clients through the pandemic. These many years later I have helped so many people and I now know that I could help the person who had come to me so long ago!
The work I care about involves deep whole body healing, deep whole body loving and deep whole body living. It is work, but it is worth it.
